Education Matters: This Week

I have had a great week working with a number of students Hard to contain meself sometimes with the things I have learned.

Working with Daniel Snell from Arrival Education has been a great experience thus far. Being part of a process where youth leadership is encouraged and promoted ticks every box for me. Not only have we had a great experience teaching the youth but also learning back from them too. (It’s to the bash, not to bash mate!).

Yesterday morning I worked with a number of year 10/11 students in a special school. The students were defined as having emotional and educational needs. I can’t lie and say it was easy. One student slept most of the way through (that brought me down to earth) but one thing that was prevalent was the desire to something. Underneath the labels around behaviour and inability to manage them was this raw potential. A willingness to succeed and do good with their lives. I really wish them well for the future.

My week finished last night when I was asked by my friends at Bold Creative to host an event called Faith in the City. Focusing on the young Muslim voice in London this was an enriching and impressive event. Kudos to the panellists and all those who took part. I need a weekend of rest now.
